NAB 2017: Interview with Geoff Fox, the Work-at-Home Weatherman
May 19, 2017 by Chuck Baker
Geoff Fox is an award-winning weatherman with over 30 years experience and one of our favorite customers. After 27 years at a New England television station, Fox and his wife decided they were ready to move on to warmer weather in California. Fox had an idea for reporting the weather without leaving his house. The cars came out of the garage, a wall was painted chromakey green, and with a TriCaster Mini with Advanced Edition and some economical supporting equipment, the garage became a home studio for television production. And he was right - his low-cost “studio” garage can do what any television station can do: create a modern, all-the-bells-and-whistles weather report, several times a day.
So Geoff can report on weather anywhere in the country, from the comfort of his California home. He currently provides weather reports, including live coverage during weather emergencies, for five stations in Nebraska. And he does everything on both sides of the camera, all by himself. Join us for the interview from NAB 2017, and hear Fox share how it is that he can do it all.
