A decade ago Cali Lewis and business partner John Pozadzides (John P.) co-founded Livid Lobster, LLC, and began a tech news podcast produced and uploaded from her spare bedroom. From that humble beginning the podcast grew and evolved into the popular online weekly “Geek Beat LIVE” tech news show. Geek Beat LIVE now boasts 2.5 million social media followers, millions of downloads, more than a billion videos viewed and a large, loyal live audience.
Among the keys to their success are an innovative mindset that has allowed them to invent and adapt to new content production and distribution models, insight into the audience that has allowed them to grow and retain loyal viewers, and a combination of good business sense and thorough tech knowledge that has allowed them to produce compelling content by the most cost-effective means. For the latter, John P. says, “Of all the technology we use to produce Geek Beat, the two things we cannot live without are our Internet connection and our TriCaster. Everything else is replaceable.”
