SXSW 2015: "What’s Trending" Streams Live from the Samsung Lounge
Hosting a “Blogger Lounge” at large trade and festival events to draw social influencers together has become a major opportunity for companies to get quality time and good will for the brand with key social media communicators. SXSW, for example, has gone from having one such lounge a few years ago, to having a long roster of them this year. Samsung’s SamsungSXSW Blogger Lounge is now in its fourth year and among the most popular of the lounges. The Lounge takes over a local steakhouse for the term of the show, and stocks it as a collaborative workspace with Samsung’s latest products.
The branding outreach opportunity is enriched when you can partner with a social media outlet to bring your lounge to the online audience, both at the event and beyond. A good partnership will attract more key social media folk to the lounge, as well. The SamsungSXSW Lounge featured Shira Lazar and the team from popular YouTube channel What’s Trending offering live coverage of SXSW 2015 from March 14-16. In addition to a large live stream audience, the sessions are now posted on demand and will keep drawing new viewers. Both brands have leveraged the SXSW event in a way that will go well beyond the walls and dates of the show.
As with their regular year-round programming, **What’s Trending’s **production and streaming was powered by TriCaster. The set was a modest sized space with a strategically curved (and branded) wall. Note in the images the camera placements, allowing for shots from both angles into the set. And yes, per the picture, TriCaster Operators are happy people!
